You Know, I Haven’t Done A Meme In A While…

Stolen from Mrs. Chili, who in turn believes she stole it from Kwizgiver…

1. What are your current obsessions?

I don’t know that I really have any. I have my habits and my routines and my favorite things, to be sure. None of them, however, I think qualify as obsessions.

2. Which item from your wardrobe do you wear most often?

Well, if I have to work its dress slacks, button-down shirts, and ties. If I don’t have to work, it’s jeans and a t-shirt or a polo.

3. Last dream you had?

The last one I remember with any clarity was quite frightening because it was so damn real! I was in bed with Cookiemaker, our two cats, Merry and Pippin, curled up at our feet, and Little Man asleep on the floor on his mattress. I tried to move, and I couldn’t. Nor could I speak. And it wasn’t because some invisible monster was holding me down, it was because I simply could not move or speak. The whole thing was so real that I honestly could not tell the difference between the dream and when I woke up. When I did wake up (at least, as far as I could tell), I thought the whole thing might have been real and that I had suffered some kind of minor stroke or something. I stayed awake for quite some time after that, occasionally moving some body part just to make sure I was ok.

I really don’t care to ever have that dream again (shudder)…

4. Last thing you bought?

Cookiemaker, Little Man, and I went out to the local “big” mall on Sunday to get one of Little Man’s friends a birthday present, and while we were out there we got Little Man a toy, too, and I got myself a haircut and a matching lightweight suit jacket and pants combo so I can rebuild my Miami Vice wardrobe. 🙂

5. What are you listening to?

On a regular basis? Mostly conservative talk radio, although I’ll also listen to sports talk radio on occasion. If I throw in a CD, lately it’s been either Whitesnake, Hardline, or a little-known, Peabody, MA-based hard rock band called Fortune.

6. Embarrassed to admit?

Where to start? I can’t cook. I don’t know how to shave with a regular razor (I have to use an electric one). I’ve finally let my vanity get the better of me and started using Rogaine.

7. Favourite holiday spots?

We don’t really have any that we’ve frequented on any kind of a regular basis. Cookiemaker and I loved England when we went on our honeymoon. The whole family is going to Disney in Florida in October. Someday we want to go to Australia and New Zealand.

8. Reading right now?

Now that George R.R. Martin has finally published A Dance with Dragons, I’m re-reading the entire A Song of Ice and Fire series so I can remember what the hell is going on when I pick up ADwD. I’ve finished A Game of Thrones (which I then loaned to Mrs Chili – how are you liking that, btw, Mrs. C.?) and A Clash of Kings and am a little over 300 pages into A Storm of Swords. Keep in mind that each one of these books is in the 900+-page range, folks, and that after ASoS I have to read A Feast for Crows before I can finally get to ADwD.

9. Four words to describe yourself.

Snarky, stubborn, smart, funny.

10. Guilty pleasure?

The 80s. I miss ’em. I graduated from high school in ’87, and despite the fact that high school itself wasn’t all that enjoyable for me, I did enjoy the decade. I miss the hair metal, Ronald Reagan, the tv shows (remember how NBC dominated that decade? The Thursday night lineup of The Cosby Show, Family Ties, Cheers, and Night Court? Miami Vice on Friday nights?), the teen comedy movies (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Secret of My Success, Weird Science, Real Genius, The Breakfast Club, Better Off Dead, One Crazy Summer, I’m sure I’m missing a bunch more), the age of the action hero (Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Willis, Van Damme, Seagal), the fashion (big hair on women, sports coats over t-shirts), and – guiltiest of all – the porn (Ginger Lynn, Amber Lynn, Porsche Lynn, Nina Hartley, Tracey Adams, Taija Rae, Cheri Taylor).

Ah, youth! 🙂

  1. I haven’t started Game of Thrones yet. Well, that’s not entirely true; I started it at the lake, but I’ve been distracted by my desire to reread the Potter series, so I’ve put Thrones aside for a bit.

You are one of the few people who can still pull off the Miami Vice look. I don’t miss much about the 80’s (oh, dear GOD, the SHOULDER PADS!), but I did like the movies.

    • So the out fit I wore to your 15th anniversary party worked?

  2. Dude, you might want to Google “sleep paralysis.”

    • Damn, Bo – that’s IT!!!
