J.A.R.D. v.7.17.11

* – I have to start off with this:

That is just fucking awesome!

Makes me feel better about my open letter to David Carr in my last randomness post, too.

🙂

Stolen with love from Mrs. Chili.

* – speaking of Mrs. Chili, who is an English teacher, I’m willing to bet she’d get at least her male students more interested in increasing their vocabulary if she used this as part of her lesson planning:

Just sayin’, Mrs. C. 🙂

* – OMG!!! I’m a guy and I still read this and think ‘ow-owowOWOOOWWWW!!!’

I also think of this:

* – ok, this guy is just plain nuts!

* – looks like Kate Middleton had a little “Marilyn Monroe moment” the other day…

Prince William is quite the lucky bloke, isn’t he? 😉

* – seems like Christie Brinkley caught the Marilyn Monroe bug, too.

* – why can’t we have ads like this in the U.S.?:

(a better world, indeed… 🙂 )

* – and if you can’t, Candice, I’ll be happy to do it for you! 😉

* – did you ever notice how passages in kids shows, movies, and books take on whole new meanings when you’re an adult…

um, yeah…

* – wow. There’s been a lot of death in the Harry Potter series, hasn’t there?

* – first the HBO series, and now the new book – it’s been a good time lately for George R.R. Martin fans!

* – speaking of fantasy novels, here are more pics of the dwarves from the upcoming Hobbit films:

Fili and Kili

Bombur, Bofur, and Bifur

Balin and Dwalin

and Thorin Oakenshield, son of Thrain, son of Thror, King Under the Mountain.

* – speaking of Tolkien-related stuff, I’m pretty sure I want this game:

* – well done, Mila Kunis. Well done, indeed.

* – I think I need to go see Bad Teacher

… because apparently the woman above and Cameron Diaz get to, ah… “know” each other… 😉

* – byt the same token, I think I’ll need to see Without Men when it comes out.

* – I think I need a secretary…

Yeah, she’ll do. 😉

* – where was this when Little Man was littler?:

🙂

* – keep your chins up, there may very well be NFL football yet this season!

* – wow, even in the NFL they have to play the race card (and even in the NFL they sound like idiots when they do so).

* – I got this via email from a friend of mine the other day…

The best line I ever heard was from a shop foreman at the old Republic Steel when this young black kid was being reprimanded for the last time. The black youth said to the shop foreman, “You’re firing me because I’m black!”

The boss said, “No, we hired you because you were black. We’re firing you because you are useless!”

Sound like a good logo for the 2012 election? 🙂

* – a nice, tidy little piece on the Casey Anthony trial by Saintseester.

* – and as long as we’re talking about that trial, just to prove that there’s nothing that can’t be made fun of…

* – RIP, Sherwood Schwartz (the creator of Gilligan’s Island and The Brady Bunch).

* – RIP, Roberts Blossom (you’ll recognize him when you click on the link).

* – RIP, Betty Ford.

* – bless you, Marvin Hume:

* – NEWSFLASH!!!: Conservatism is not Fascism!

* – ah, nanny-state idiocy

* – ooh! More nanny-state idiocy!

* – but, hey – all that nanny-statism makes a difference, doesn’t it?

* – the worst of the nanny-states.

* – if you’re thinking of moving, might I suggest these cities?

* – what’s the matter, TSA, you can dish it out but you can’t take it?

* – well of course the federal government bailout of the auto industry was for the good of the country. Who else could it possibly have been good for?

* – this is the President’s Car Czar?! Jesus Christ! I feel so much better now, don’t you?

* – this is our Federal Reserve Chairman?!:

Gold isn’t money?! Well, we are good and fucked, aren’t we?

* – maybe Ron Paul isn’t such a nutjob after all…

* – and we don’t even need to talk about Michelle Bachmann, do we… ?

* – aren’t you glad so much of your paycheck is going to the federal government for essential services like these?

* – gotta love the folks over at PolitiZoid:

* – “Let, let me distinguish between professional politicians and the public at large. The public is not paying close attention to how a treasury auction goes. They shouldn’t (emphasis mine), they’re worrying about their families, they’re worrying about their jobs, they’re worrying about their neighborhood. They’ve got a lot of other things on their plate. We’re paid to worry about it.” – Barack Obama.

Wrong answer, Mr. President. In this country, we should worry about whatever we want to worry about, whether we “get paid” for it or not. After all, it’s our money you’re fucking with, remember?

* – hey, yeah – if the debt ceiling crisis was such a big deal to you, Barry, why didn’t you do something about it back when you had control of the White House, the Senate, and the House?

* – think you can do a better job with the debt than all these politicians? Give it a shot yourself, then, by playing “Budget Hero 2.0.”

* – so the Democrat governor of Minnesota (which, by the way, in cast you haven’t heard, has been functioning without a state government for a little while now) counts his “chef” and “housekeeper / server” as essential staff?

* – oh, speaking of the government shutdown in Minnesota, said Democratic governor blinked.

* – what was that definition of Godwin’s Law again?

* – who is this guy?:

He’s frickin’ AWESOME!!!

“They should have kept the body. They should have brought the sonofabitch back to New York, pickled him in alcohol, and mounted him on top of the Ground Zero mosque with a pork chop in his mouth and fireman’s axe up his ass!”

Can I get an “AMEN!”?

* – god, but that Glenn Beck is such an anti-Semite, isn’t he?

* – not only is Gay Patriot brilliant, but so are many of his commenters. Check out these gems:

“The left, for all intents and purposes, are the real-world equivalent of the Borg (or Daleks, for you Anglophiles out there); a self-described collective of sycophantic automatons for whom the greater good is served and enhanced by forcibly assimilating cultures (and world views, by extension) and taking only what they determine to be useful to the hive. In other words, “dragging them into the future, kicking and screaming.”

They are ruthless, unforgiving, and intolerant of the individual, focused solely on what is in the best interests of the many. Sound like anyone we know?

Hence, anything the collective does is excusable, for it serves the greater good, yet the harm done to their victims is justifiable, given that had they not resisted in the first place, their assimilation would have been painless.

However, this collective of self-righteous, amoral, violent pragmatists is already doomed to fail, given that the very first thing they should have done was to take control of the internet, which they obviously failed to do. Just like talk radio, they lost control of the flow of information, resulting in far more exposure to the “inconvenient truth” than they would have preferred.

Ergo, the “troll” can best be described as the last line of defense in the war to convert us “slope-headed sheeple in the flyover states.” I’m reminded of the Hitler Youth who, in the waning days of the Third Reich, were thrown onto the front lines in a desperate attempt to stave off their inevitable defeat.

The threat and application of violence by those most dedicated to the propagation of “progressive” ideals is, I fear, only going to increase,  the closer we get to the eventual electoral dismissal of “The One.” If we’ve learned anything from the leftist terrorism of the 1960’s, we should know that nothing motivates them quite like impending failure. Just ask Bill Ayers.

To be perfectly frank, if the best the left has are these idiotic, sycophantic, hipster, doofus, millennial tools, then nothing a middle-aged Democrat party apparatchik has to say threatens me in the slightest.”

and

““I’m  offended” has been so over-abused that it carries no weight these days.  People, especially activists, are so theatrically-thin skinned that their bleatings are just that…bleatings.  They are not “offended”, they just want an excuse to draw attention to their cause or agenda.”

* – so I was listening to the Sean Hannity show a while back and this guy calls in to try to prove Hannity wrong about some of his most basic conservative principles. “Why aren’t you ok with the redistribution of wealth,” the caller asks. “You’re ok with equal freedom, right? You’re ok with the redistribution of liberty, aren’t you?”

Really, caller? Really?

If you believe in the principles upon which this country was founded, all Men are created equal, and are endowed upon their creation with the right to Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. These are not concepts that can be redistributed. They are not concepts that can be redistributed because they are not man-made concepts. Freedom is endowed upon you and every other human being at conception by your Creator (and it does not matter who your Creator is. You can choose God, if you like, but Yaweh, Allah, Buddha, Gaia, Mother Nature, the universe, Zeus, Odin, Ra, etc., work just as well, if that’s your preference), and as such no mere Man has the right to take some of it away from you and give it to somebody else.

Wealth, on the other hand, is a man-made construct, and as such it is not endowed upon you at your conception by your Creator. The only thing endowed upon you by your Creator in regards to wealth is the right to pursue it, and your right to that pursuit is as equal as any other Man’s. Wealth must be earned. Wealth must be given to you by another Man, whether as a gift, as charity, or in exchange for a service rendered or a product delivered. The equality is in the opportunity, not the end result.

And anything that can be given to you by a Man (or a government) can be taken away from you, whether it be by theft or “redistribution.”

Therefore, there is no legitimate comparison between wealth and freedom, and therefore, caller, your argument is a false one.

Here endeth the lesson.

(oh, btw, I was so disappointed by Hannity’s answer that I don’t even remember it.)

* – let’s just come out and say it, ok? “Barack Obama is a liar.”

There. Feel better? I know I do.

* – and if he’s not lying, exactly where the fuck is he getting his numbers from?!

* – and finally, I will leave you with this:

🙂

  1. Yes, he IS a liar. Wish someone had listened to us when it would have made a difference…. I guess some need to be shown, instead.

  2. Kelly, Bush was so much worse. Why, Obama’s done all he can to clean up this horrendous mess left by his predecessor, the worst president in U.S. history–but there’s still so much to do. That’s why it’s so important that we reelect Obama for a second term. We don’t want to change horses midstream.

  3. Hey, look, I’m willing to admit pretty much all politicians, regardless of which side of the aisle they’re on, are liars.

    I think the late, great Richard Jordan said it best as National Security Advisor Dr. Jeffrey Pelt in “The Hunt for Red October”: “Listen, I’m a politician, which means I’m a cheat and a liar, and when I’m not kissing babies I’m stealing their lollipops.”

    That being said, the montage that Beck goes through in that link is just staggering, especially the initial clip about Obama’s mom. There are lies, and then there are LIES, and lying about your mom – about your mom’s HEALTH – are effing LIES!!!
