A Random Saturday Meme

Stolen from Mrs. Chili, who boosted it from NurseExec and Kwizgiver about two weeks ago.

1. What is your favorite color?
Red, though to look at my wardrobe you’d probably think it was black.

2. Have you ever slapped someone?
I’m sure I have, but it was so long ago I don’t remember the incident.

3. Is your hair curly?
Nope. Fairly straight, though it does have a bit of a wave to it that I wish it didn’t.

4. What was the last CD you bought?
Whitesnake’s Good to be Bad. It’s an excellent CD, actually, if you like that kind of music. I hardly ever buy CDs anymore because that style of music has pretty much died, though I do want to complete my Nickelback collection and I’m curious to listen to Chickenfoot.

5. Do looks matter?
Yes, they do. As much as we’d all like to fool ourselves into thinking they don’t, they do. No matter how much we tell ourselves or are told by other people not to judge another book by it’s cover, we all judge based on physical appearance at one time or another. We see a long-haired, scruffy-goateed kid on a skateboard and think “stoner.” We see a thickly built female with a short haircut and think “lesbian.” We see somebody dressed in ripped-up jeans and a ratty sweatshirt walk into a jewelry store and think, “What the hell do they think they’re going to be able to buy in here?”

We all do it. It’s reflexive.

The saving grace is whether or not we catch ourselves doing it, chastise ourselves for it, and then give that individual a chance to prove us wrong.

As far as potential significant others go, I’ve always said that at first looks are all you’ve got to go on. You don’t know the person from a whole in the wall, so the only thing that’s going to catch your interest at first is their looks. Only after that initial impression can you then actually get to know the person and decide whether or not you want to spend any time with them.

6. Could you ever forgive a cheater?
Nope.

7. Is your phone bill sky high?
Actually, no. Working for a cell phone company has it’s benefits, most notably a 25% discount off my monthly bill. I don’t talk or text much, so I’m in absolutely no danger of incurring overage charges, either.

8. Do you like your life right now?
Yeah, actually, I do. Could it be better? Sure – but it could also be a hell of a lot worse.

9. Do you sleep with the TV on?
Sometimes, if I’m tired enough but Cookiemaker insists on watching something, yes. Usually, however, we fall asleep to a fan and/or an air conditioner. I am one of those people who does need some sort of monotonous background noise to fall asleep to.

10. Can you handle the truth?
I’ll second Mrs. Chili here – “I always – always – prefer the truth over a lie (or an omission, which I consider a lie, as well).”

11. Do you have good vision?
When I’m wearing my glasses I do. I have astigmatism, though. I believe one eye is 20-40 and the other is 20-100 or something like that.

12. Do you hate or dislike more than 3 people?
Dislike? Yes. Hate? No. Hate is pretty strong, and you would’ve had to really eff up to get me to hate you.

13. How often do you talk on the phone?
Not really all that much. It’s often part of my job, so in that sense it’s unavoidable. Outside of work, though, I’m pretty brief on the phone. Unless the subject is something I’m really interested in, I usually try to make any phone conversation I’m in as brief as possible.

14. The last person you held hands with?
Cookiemaker and Little Man.

15. What are you wearing?
At this very moment? A pair of shorts and a Red Sox t-shirt I got after the 2004 World Series that says “Now I Can Die In Peace.” 🙂

16. What is your favourite animal?
The peregrine falcon, hence my moniker.

17. Where was your favorite picture taken?
Hmmm, I don’t know. Cookiemaker and I had some nice ones taken at Rye Beach in NH after our wedding ceremony. Little Man just “graduated” from preschool yesterday, and we snapped some good shots of him in his little cap and gown. We also have some good pics from our honeymoon in England.

18. Can you hula hoop?
No.

19. Do you have a job?

Two, as a matter of fact. My primary job is as a tech support rep for Verizon Wireless. My secondary job is as an “inventory specialist” for NIS of Maine.

20. What have you most recently bought?
Besides the usual mundane stuff like groceries? A silver 4dr 2010 Hyundai Elantra a little over a week ago. My 2000 Pontiac Sunfire finally passed away. 😦

21. Have you ever crawled through a window?
I refuse to anwer that question on the grounds that it may incriminate me. 🙂

  1. Hey! Happy new car!

It’s been a while since we’ve gotten together and I’m starting to get itchy. Got some time for us?

  2. Chickenfoot is every bit as good as you think it might be. The album, the live experience, the etc. You will not be disappointed!

  3. Love your responses! I’ve been to England…a long time ago (during college) and loved it! I would enjoy seeing those pics (from England) of you. Hugs!
