Just Another Random Monday v.12.28.09

* – thank you very much to everybody who sent me best Christmas wishes. They are appreciated and very warmly returned.

* – an early Happy New Year to all.

* – this past Christmas Day marked the third anniversary of the Eyrie. Where does the time go?

* – how’d everybody do with their Xmas loot haul? I came away pretty happy. New dress shirts, ties, and pants for work, a new pair of mocs, a big bottle of Blanche de Chambly beer, Season One of The Unit on DVD, Guests of the Ayatollah and Killing Pablo by Mark Bowden, The Lance Thrower and The Eagle by Jack Whyte, A History of the World in Six Glasses by Tom Standage, And a Bottle of Rum by Wayne Curtis, a new Atlanta Falcons baseball cap, and a new travel mug.

I’m a little bummed I didn’t get Assassin’s Creed II, though. Oh, well. I certainly can’t complain.

Cookiemaker got new jeans, new PJs, Angels & Demons, Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein on DVD, The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown, The Gathering Storm by Robert Jordan, and the entire Chronicles of Narnia series on audio CDs.

Little Man made out really well, too. An acoustic guitar, lots of books, plenty of Playmobil knights, soldiers, and dragons, a couple of sets of PlayDo, a couple of sets of Moon Sand, etc., etc., etc…

Oh, yeah, our trash man is going to love us! 🙂

* – after an ungly 10 – 7 win over the Jets just over a week ago and a 31 – 3 stomping of the Bills yesterday (that wasn’t quite as pretty as the score might indicate), my Falcons are just one win away from posting back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in franchise history.

* – I am my fantasy football league’s champion! After smoking Mrs. C.’s hubby 102 – 53 a week ago (sorry, Mr. C.! 🙂 ), I eked out a 42 – 37 win this week.

* – here’s a trio of bits the teachers out there should appreciate:

NOT smarter than a fifth grader!

* – gotta love Bill Cosby

* – The Princess and the Frog was pretty good.

* – can’t wait to see Sherlock Holmes.

* – it’s the holiday season, so I thought I’d spare you all the politics for a week.

You’re welcome. 🙂

* – who knows where this came from and whether or not there’s any truth as to where it may have come from…

43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
44. Yield.
45. Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift

… it’s still a good list.

  1. Loved this:

    43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

I’m looking forward to seeing you on Friday (it IS Friday, right?)

  2. Yes, Mrs. C., it is Friday.

IF the weather cooperates. I don’t know what the forecast holds for your neck of the woods, but they’re talking about a fairly decent-sized snowstorm up my way.
