Some Blatant Right-Wing Propaganda

At least I’m honest about it… 🙂

* – hey, yeah – why is the left so angry?

The next three items are emails I got from a friend of mine at work…

* – An economics professor at Texas Tech said he had never failed a single student before but had, once, failed an entire class.

That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said OK, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism. All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade, so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. But, as the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less, and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too; so they studied little. The second test average was a D!

No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around the average was an F. The scores never increased as bickering, blame, name calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else. All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail, because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great; but when government takes all the reward away; no one will try or want to succeed.

It could NOT be any simpler than that…

* – “You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom.  What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.  When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.  You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”

Dr. Adrian Rogers, 1931 – 2005

Does anybody out there have any memory of the reason given for the establishment of
the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY ….. during the Carter Administration?

Anybody?

Anything?

No?

Didn’t think so !

Bottom line .. we’ve spent several hundred billion dollars in support of an agency the
reason for which not one person who reads this can remember.

Ready???????

It was very simple .. and at the time everybody thought it very appropriate
The ‘Department of Energy’ was instituted on
8- 04-1977

TO LESSEN  OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN
 OIL.

Hey, pretty efficient, huh?????

AND NOW IT’S 2009,

32 YEARS LATER
  …
AND THE BUDGET FOR THIS

  • NECESSARY DEPARTMENT IS AT $24..2

BILLION A YEAR

 IT HAS

  • 16,000 FEDERAL EMPLOYEES  AND APPROXIMATELY
  •
  • 100,000 CONTRACT EMPLOYEES
  •
    •  AND LOOK AT THE JOB IT HAS DONE!

THIS IS WHERE YOU SLAP YOUR FOREHEAD AND SAY

    •
    • ‘WHAT WAS I THINKING?’

Ah, yes, good ole bureaucracy..

And NOW we are going to turn the Banking System, health care &

the Auto Industry over to them?

  1. Sorry about all the funky fonts and sizes and colors with that last email, but I couldn’t figure out how to change it to normal type.

  2. Many years ago when I was working in China setting up a factory over there (yes, I am part of the problem), we were having a hard time getting the people to do anything. They were not the least bit motivated. Finally, out of frustration, I asked one of them what we had to do to get something done. He looked at me and very seriously said….”because of our system, it doesn’t matter if you work hard, or if you don’t work at all. The pay is still the same.”

‘Bout sums it up, don’t it?

Despite my apparent democratic leanings, I’ve never supported the move toward socialism in this country. I am part of a very disaffected group of old Reagan democrats. We don’t have a home anymore.

  3. Some folks cannot distinguish between useful social programs and socialism. So when they disagree with a particular program, they call it socialism, while continuing to benefit from the programs they don’t disagree with.

As for the wonderful colorful stuff in large letters: was it the government which made the current financial mess? If failure to regulate markets is government “action,” then I’d say the answer is “yes.”

By the way, I doubt if that Texas Tech story is true.

  4. Gerry: you would appear to be correct in regards to the Texas Tech piece –

However, read Mike’s comment prior to yours.

  5. I read Mike’s comment. I got nothing from it.

  6. NHFalcon, the government can never do enough for the poor and oppressed, who get that way solely at the hands of lawless, greedy, capitalists. Also, the U.S. Constitution is not an exhaustive enumeration of the federal government’s powers, but rather a good starting point. Finally, it’s patriotic to pay taxes, and the rich can never pay enough.

Clearly you have succumbed to these wild, antiquated notions of rewarding achievement, preserving civil liberties, and wanting the government the hell out of your life for anything you can do yourself.

Hope this clarifies some things for you.

  7. Thanx, Bo. Now I feel like the Trix Rabbit – silly Falcon, politics are kids. 🙂
